For 20 years, I have been employed as a professor at the same university teaching four sometimes five classes each semester. Now that I’m not teaching a 4/4 load, I have created this new WordPress blog about my experiences as a formerly tenured Chicana faculty displaced by COVID-19. The blog is mostly to help me start writing and figure out what to do next. This is my preliminary introductory post.
I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley and in San Francisco. I was raised from 4-14 by my great grandmother who emigrated during the Mexican revolution. I moved back in with my mother during high school. I’ve also lived in Berkeley and Austin.
New blog posts will be made each Monday, but I reserve the right to take a week off each month.
You may comment on my posts.

Until then, you can enjoy my old 2013 blog.
I am sorry this happened to you. It’s important that you are sharing this. You are a groundbreaker in creating Chicana cyberspace! I look forward to reading your blog posts.
You are an awesome educator in person & in cyberspace! I’m looking forward to where you will take us in your blog and on your cyber border travesías.
Justine! I miss seeing you and look forward to reading more. You’re such a hub of knowledge, experiences and perspectives. ??
